ProWay Livestock Equipment

ProWay designs, manufactures and installs livestock handling equipment. We service all of Australia and export some equipment overseas.

We frequently use the road train connectivity availability into Bomen. The roadwork network has improved significantly over the years, including the safety of the road crossing over the railway line from the Junee Road. The real gamechanger for us was the conversion away from dependence on the NBN fixed wireless services to the direct fibre to premise meaning internet speeds are no longer a restraint on business. While the volume we send in containers is not huge, we can see the benefits of using RiFL and Visy Logistics if that were to change down the track.

There are three reasons we operate out of Wagga Wagga. The first is proximity to the biggest saleyard in the country. The second is proximity to all the producers on the Eastern seaboard, which is relevant to anybody working in agriculture. And the third is having access to a great employment force because the population is over 70,000 and there’s a TAFE here locally so there’s a constant stream of people coming through that you can employ. All of this makes it a great place to do business.

It's got everything you need. It's not too big, so it's still got the country town feel, but it's got enough here to keep you interested and entertained with whatever your interests are.

Cool Off

Cool Off, located in Howlong NSW, is a regional exporter supplying pet food ingredients to manufacturers around the world. We export approximately 1200 40ft refrigerated containers annually, 96% of these move on rail.

Cool Off and Visy Logistics have been working together for approximately 16 months.

Moving freight through RiFL with Visy enables our business to easily access the Port of Sydney. This gives us greater flexibility in targeting vessels to meet customer demand, essentially allowing us to meet the same vessel at both Melbourne and Sydney ports. Moving the containers to our site for loading via A-Doubles allows us to load numerous containers each day in a cost effective manner.

The team at Visy are great to work with, as they take the time to understand the operational needs of our business and provide effective transport options for our product.

Vetafarm

Vetafarm Australia are a specialist pet industry manufacturer. We operate in the exotic animal area (pet birds, reptiles, small mammals and zoo animals), in both feeds and pharmaceuticals.

Vetafarm Australia have manufactured in Wagga Wagga for over 35 years and now occupy three sites and employ 70 full-time staff.

Wagga Wagga was chosen as the home for Vetafarm on strategic grounds. As a place to service the Eastern Seaboard market of Australia and with easy access to export facilities, Wagga Wagga was particularly well suited. Transport infrastructure in Wagga Wagga allows ready and cost-effective movement of freight (from single parcel to container) both domestically and overseas.

The location of our facilities in the Riverina aids greatly in the sourcing and storage of bulk agricultural ingredients (grain, hay) with the added advantage of having dedicated product brokers in the city.

Interestingly Vetafarm is able to attract highly skilled staff (particularly biomedically trained) because of the local amenities (schools, medical, sporting) and the presence of Charles Sturt University. The new arrivals to our company always comment on the easy transition to Wagga as a place to live and raise their children.

Vetafarm Australia will continue to operate from our base in Wagga Wagga while we expand our business domestically and into major overseas markets.

MGS

MGS are a warehousing and grain handling company based in Bomen, NSW on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga. We are a service based business which has been operating for 15 years, and we have been able to establish a business in that time that encompasses a wide variety of customers and industries. Our business handles grain, cotton, other agricultural products, along with renewable infrastructure and other equipment destined for the region direct from Ports in Sydney and Melbourne.

Bomen and the RiFL precinct has transformed the way we can offer services to all our customers. The rail services provided are efficient and the staff manning these sites understand our need for a logistics pathway that offers cost effectiveness and attention to detail. We are much more comfortable now in being able to execute new business as it arises, as all parties work towards being solution providers to ensure customers’ needs are met.

Wagga and Bomen is a great place to do business and is a gateway to the Murrumbidgee Valley. The growth opportunities here are vast, and the synergies that are created by new businesses arriving is fantastic.

We thoroughly recommend the Bomen precinct as a place to do business.
